The last two weekends have seen a number of our renewyourrunning athletes stand on the start lines of the races they’ve trained for throughout the winter by following their personal coaching plans.
First up were those athletes who’d entered into the Hardmoors 55. Over the course of a long and windy day, IR, SD, AL, HC and AH all performed exceptionally well and completed the tough test successfully. Most notable amongst our athletes were IR, who in his longest race to date, finished a well deserved 6th overall, and SD who surprised herself with a magnificent 10:40 and scooped 2nd female overall.
Over the 4-day Easter weekend, a few RyR athletes were in action at the Jan Kjellstrom Trophy event, an orienteering festival that consisted of 3 individual races and 1 relay race. RB excelled to win all 3 days of the Women’s U18 competition before being called up to lead off Cleveland Orienteering Klub’s team in the Women’s Short relay competition. She had a fantastic run, coming home in the lead and handing over to another RyR athlete. BM ran solidly to maintained the club’s lead and sent AR (an athlete that RyR has previously helped achieve junior international orienteering honours) on her way to finish first and complete a sweet victory for the club.
On Easter Sunday, NA and TL were in action at the Helmsley 10K Multi-Terrain Challenge, where they both ran extremely well in what was only their second attempt at competing in a trail race.
This weekend, it’s back to both ultra and trail race action as a number of RyR athletes take up their challenges and compete. We wish them all luck with their events and hope for successful outcomes for them all.
